The Kids Answer Blog Cruise ~ What Do You Like Best About Homeschooling?

Emily, 14:
"...being able to have fun times with each other and breaking into Disney songs spontaneously."

Michael, 12:
"...doing school in pajamas and being able to do school pretty much anywhere in the house and having a teacher that pays attention."

Amy, 10:
"We can start our school before everyone else if we want to.  We can get finished quicker than everyone else.  Also, if we get our school done in time, we can do activities and fun stuff.  Then play outside.  Homeschooling is way better than public schooling; and, it is GREAT!"

There you have it from the mouths of babes.

Great Depression Cooking Baked Apples

Dear Readers,
We're all looking for ways to feed our families delicious meals while watching our food budget.  We all need a little help; so, I'm going to share some of the recipes and things that I do over the next few weeks.

Have you met Clara?  She's a 94 year old lady who shares recipes from the Great Depression.

Have a terrific week.  Think about little ways to bless your family.  Little things sometimes make a big impact.

Blessings from Harvest Lane Cottage!

A is for Amy

A is for Amy, my sweet little girl.  She came into our lives as our last little blessing from God.  She follows two brothers and a sister, but longs to lead sometimes, too.

She is my little artist and decorator.  She loves to spend time drawing, painting, or any other artsy craftsy thing she can create.  She's also a budding cook and seamstress.  She can melt my heart with her cuddles, giggles, songs and smiles.

She writes at Living in Faith and Fun.  Please do drop by and leave her a comment.  It would just make her day!

Cheerfulness

Isn't it amazing?
Housework, homework, yardwork, life can be drudgery.
If we let it.
Poor me.  I have so much to do.  I don't feel like it.  It's like a plague.

Why not try a little...
Cheerfulness?
Counting the blessings we have?
Choosing to enjoy the work just as we enjoy knitting or sewing or visiting with friends?

I think a little cheerfulness and a ready smile would change not only our work but our homes!

Trusting God for Our Needs in Hard Times

Trusting God for Our Needs in Hard Times

“I have never thought it necessary to save for the future or look out for myself or my family except that we trust God. So, when we see someone in need, an old woman, a sick person, or a helpless infant– I freely give whatever I have at the time. I know that later, when I am in need, God will provide for me. I don’t need to look out for myself in any way other than to trust in Him.”

~George Mueller
1805-1898

Oh for that kind of faith…

a faith that is willing to give it all away for Jesus’ sake knowing that He will provide all of our needs according to His riches in glory,

a faith that trusts Him explicitly without fretting or worrying,

a faith that does not doubt His love or His provision or His timing,

a faith that is strong even when we don’t see answers to our prayers.

Faith is hoping and believing and trusting all wrapped up together. It is a gift from God. The Word says that "…faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Romans 10:17 This tells me that I need to not only read scripture, but read it aloud and listen to it being read aloud. I want to hear from God from His Word.

I want that Faith that is a gift from God.
How about you?

God bless!
Laura
