I'm So Excited!

I'm so excited!
My 6 foot plus son is coming home tomorrow for a visit. The first thing he wants to do is go jump in the creek! My other children and my husband cleared a wide path that runs the quarter mile or so down the field to the creek. They cleared out a nice little area so that we'll be able to swim. We took the plunge for the first time on Saturday. It was incredible, like going to a remote vacation spot. The birds, the little fish, the sound of the rippling water... it was a little piece of heaven.

I cannot wait to share it with Matthew!

Hens and Chicks!

Miss Mazi came for a visit and had a great time with our pet hens.

My Miss Amy loved sharing her hens with Mazi.
The hens? Well, they were coopertive; but, the whole experience was enough to make them lay an egg!

The Honor of Motherhood

Being a mother is the greatest privilege that I believe a woman can have. I thank God for the honor and trust that He has bestowed on me. That honor, however, came from loving my man, who is a wonderful father. I am thankful for Lowell and his hands-on love and training for our children.
Happy Father's Day Lowell!
I also am thankful that I was able to spend the day with my father yesterday. Although he lives far from me, I do love him very much. If only I had my own airplane.... Love you Dad!
Happy Father's Day Dad!
I hope you all enjoy your Father's Day!

Busy Busy Saturday

It was another busy Saturday. I darned a hole in a pair of pants ( first for me), made mulberry-blueberry-raspberry jam, did some cleaning, went to an icecream social to celebrate a graduation, read to the children, listened as Papa read to the children, visited with an old friend, and went to the Acoustic Music Festival. I also received news from my husband that we will soon have an addition to our family flock...a little goat named Miriam! At least she'll eat the weeds for us... a little weed eater!

Have a great week!

Easy Peasy Cheater's Supper

I got rave reviews for this dinner. I'm almost embarrassed to say what I made! I was going to take photos; but, we ate it all too fast!

Homemade Garlic Cheese Biscuits

4 c all-purpose flour
2 t salt
3 T baking powder
4 T canola oil
1 1/2 - 1 3/4 c milk
2 T garlic powder
4 oz cheddar cheese, shredded
1 stick butter

Preheat oven to 425. Begin with a large bowl. Sift dry ingredients into bowl. Mix well. Combine milk and oil. Stir into dry ingredients. Add shredded cheese. Stir until combined. Drop by large spoonfuls onto a sprayed cookie sheet. Bake 15 minutes. Brush tops generously with melted butter. Return to oven until lightly golden.
These are so good, you don't have to add any more butter at the table.

Now, here's my don't tell main dish. Canned New England Clam Chowder from Aldi. The family loved it! I served 3 cans to our family of 5. They wanted more; but, it was more than adequate as it was.
So, if you're looking for an easy peasy cheater's supper, you've found it!
