Minutes...Coffee or Tea...My Friend and Me

I've just had a wonderful morning. I slipped away to have coffee (tea for me) with my heart friend Sherry. She is so dear to me for so many reasons. She's a friend that I can share my heart with openly and honestly. She always points me back to God. I thank God for her.

Sometimes we think we need a lot of time to be with a friend. Friend Sherry and I haven't talked for weeks. That happens when we think we need hours. God blesses us with minutes. I thank God for my Friend Sherry and that we took the minutes and redeemed them this morning.

Who do you need to call or spend a few minutes with?
God is in the minutes. Relationships and friendships are in the minutes.

Blessings,
Laura

Something to Think About...Thoughts on Life... Laura Ingalls Wilder

"...but, at long last, I am beginning to learn that it is the sweet, simple things of life which are the real ones after all...I believe we would be happier to go back to simpler living and more direct thinking. It is the simple things of life that make living worthwhile, the sweet fundamental things such as love and duty, work and rest and living close to nature. There are no hothouse blossoms that can compare in beauty and fragrance with my bouquet of wild flowers."

Thoughts of Love... Mother Teresa

"Spread love everywhere you go:
first of all in your own house.
Give love to your children,
to your wife or husband,
to a next door neighbor...
Let no one ever come to you
without leaving better and happier."

Something to Think About... Perfect Wishes

Here we are again at the beginning of February. I've given up making New Year's resolutions. I just don't resolve and follow through like I wish I would. Wouldn't it be lovely if we could just decide how we want to be and then be it? Golly, I would be more organized, a better cook, a better housekeeper, a better wife, a better mother...I'd memorize chapters and even books of scriptures, I'd even write extensively and perhaps even be published. I'd lose weight, keep it off forever, and feel great. I'd exercise an hour a day and not even mind doing it. My meals would be appetizing, varied and cheap as dirt.

Ah, for a magic wand to make it all happen! The truth is, I can't make myself change just like that. Some of these wishes about myself are good things that I can work towards; but, to expect that I'm going to just make a resolution and do it isn't realistic in my life. I'm like Paul, who in Romans 7 talks about not doing what he wants to do and doing what he does not want to do.

So, what's a girl to do?

"This is what the LORD says: Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is,and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls...."

To me, that means I need to slow down, stop, be still and listen to God. I need to seek His wisdom while it may be found. I believe that I can change many things in my life, with God's help. There are other things that are just too big for me. For those, I'm asking God to change me. I need to be "transformed by the renewing of my mind".

Let's pray for those big changes and make little steps toward them.
Just something to think about....

A Fat Lip and Homemade Pizza

What an evening we're having! My son, Michael, came running into the house with his first fat lip. He caught a ball with his mouth!

Maybe I shouldn't have let him watch the Air Bud Snow Buddies movie last week! After we cleaned up the blood, sweat, and tears, we headed to the kitchen.

The kids helped make homemade pizza. It is so worth making it from scratch. Of course, it's delicious; but, the best benefit is how happy it makes the family.

I used the dough recipe out of my old Betty Crocker cookbook from the eighties. I took a small can of tomato sauce and a small can of tomato paste and stirred them together.

Then, I added oregano, garlic powder, salt, pepper, basil, Parmesan Cheese, and Italian seasoning.

We added ground beef, canned mushrooms, pepperoni, and Mozarella cheese. You can add whatever you like. Why not give it a try this weekend?

Laura
